Birchs Campground home page, with the Katahdin valley behind the campground wordmark

Overview

A booking platform for a campground in Millinocket, Maine — the last stop before Baxter State Park and Katahdin. Guests check live availability across tent sites, cabins, yurts and huts, pick the exact unit they want from an illustrated site map, and pay by card without ever leaving the site.

The Challenge

A campground is not a hotel. Stock booking tools assume interchangeable rooms, but here every site is different: a yurt sleeps four, a bunkhouse takes pets, a tent pitch is priced per night for two. Availability changes by the day across a short seasonal window, and most guests are booking from a phone while planning a trip north.

The Solution

We built the booking flow from the ground up rather than bolting on an off-the-shelf widget. Guests filter by dates, party size and pets, see only what is genuinely free, and choose a specific unit — on a map or from the list. Checkout is a single reviewed page: stay summary, per-night price, tax and total, guest details, then card payment through Square with instant confirmation and free cancellation up to 48 hours. The whole flow is built mobile-first, because that is where the bookings come from.
